Mustangs open tourney with win

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas— Devin Flournoy’s 25 points paced host Hughes Springs in their opening win over Linden-Kildare, 55-29, in the Hughes Springs basketball tournament on Thursday.

Chandler King chipped in 13 points for the Mustangs.

Red Tyson led the Tigers with 14 points.

The Mustangs fell to Hawkins in the second game of the day, 66-42.

King led Hughes Springs with 16 points and Flournoy contribute­d 11 points.

Hawkins defeated New Boston in their other game on the day, 61-36, while Paul Pewitt defeated Harleton in their opening game, 61-35.

Atlanta romped past Harleton in its only game of the day, 69-20.

Daimon Collins led the Rabbs with 23 points and teammate Alex Boston added 18 points.

Pirates go 2-0 to start tourney

SIMMS, Texas—Evan Barron’s 13 points was enough to help James Bowie defeated Trinity Christian Academy-Paris in the opening game of the James Bowie Invitation­al, 43-20.

James Bowie beat Bloomburg in their final game of the day, 45-29.

Nathan Furlow led the Pirates with 13 points and teammate Kutter Walker added 11 points.

Terry Corner led Bloomburg with 14 points.

Longhorns edge Rebels

GLADEWATER, Texas—Tyler Williams and Trevor Deel each scored nine points to lead McLeod over Ore City, 29-23, in the Union Grove Basketball Tournament.

Casey Smith added seven points for the Longhorns.

Bulldogs fall in tourney game

PATTONVILL­E, Texas—Queen City fell to Bells in its opening game in the Prairiland tournament, 52-47.

Tyler Nolen led the Bulldogs with 15 points and teammate Dylan Scott added 13 points.

Dragons roll past Bulldogs’ JV

SIMMS, Texas—Parker Gravitt’s 17 points helped Redwater defeated Queen City’s junior varsity in their opening game of the James Bowie basketball tournament, 57-25.

Mason Robertson added 11 points for the Dragons.

Redwater is back in action today at 1:30 p.m. against Bloomburg and again at 4:30 p.m. with TCA-Paris.

Hooks falls to Edgewood

EDGEWOOD, Texas—Hooks fell to host Edgewood in the Edgewood Invitation­al Tournament, 59-40, at Bulldog Gym.

Leonard Brice led the Hornets with 10 points.

Benji Johnson and Randall Green each contribute­d six points.

Sunnyvale defeated Hooks junior varsity, 64-35.

Landon Yealman led the Hornets with 13 points.

Lady Mustangs drop two at tourney

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas— Brianna Morrow scored a teamhigh 12 points, but Hughes Springs fell to Pittsburg, 58-38, in the opening day of the Hughes Springs basketball tournament.

Zoe Lanier added nine points for the Lady Mustangs.

Lanier led Hughes Springs with seven points, but the Mustangs were edged in their second game of the day to Harleton, 34-29.

TMS sweeps Marshall

MARSHALL, Texas—Texas Middle School defeated Marshall in their first eighth grade game, 34-16.

Delana Augustus, Emma Prince and Annie Powell each scored eight points for the Lady Tigers.

TMS defeated Marshall in the second eighth grade game, 16-0.

Ariana Thomas lead the Tigers with seven points.

The Tigers defeated the Lady Mavericks in the first seventh grade game, 23-14.

Kailyn Williams led TMS offensivel­y with 14 points.

Texas Middle School edged Marshall in the second seventh grade game, 12-11.

Quin Davis led the Tigers with six points.

TMS trade wins

Damon Augustus’ 24 points led Texas Middle School over Marshall in overtime, 45-41, at the Tiger Center.

Gabe Dodson added 11 points for the Tigers.

The Mavericks defeated TMS in the second eighth grade game, 38-21.

Jaylon Jordan led the Tigers with nine points.

TMS beat Marshall in the first seventh grade game, 35-24.

Jadyn Willis led the Tigers with 24 points.

Texas Middle School edged Marshall in their second seventh grade in overtime, 34-33.

Kadarious Lincoln led the Tigers with 10 points.
