Waitr food delivery app goes live this week

People in Texarkana will soon have another option for food delivery.

Waitr, which expects to hire 100 people in the area, will debut its food delivery service in Texarkana on Thursday. The company will charge a $5 flat-fee to deliver food from local restaurant­s.

The service will kick off with a special free delivery for those who use the app through Dec. 16 and use the promo “Texarkana” at checkout. Participan­ts will also be entered to win $1,000 of free food from Waitr.

“We’re very proud to be the No. 1 food delivery service in nearby areas and are thrilled we can add service to Texarkana,” said Whitney Savoie, market developmen­t director for Waitr.

Local restaurant­s who’ve already signed up with Waitr include Papa Murphy’s, The Dugout, The Doughnut Café, Joe’s Pizza & Pasta, Hooters, Silver Spoon, Auntie Anne’s, Slim Chickens, Newk’s Eatery, Hot Tamale Heaven, Sum Burger, Big Jake’s, Chickfil-A, Applebee’s, McAlister’s Deli, Steak ‘n Shake, Sam’s Southern Eatery, TCBY, Potato Patch, Eden Bubble Tea, Taste of India, China King, Dunkin’ Donuts, Loca Luna, Texas Best Smokehouse, Golden Chick, Crave Pizza, Chicken Express, Big Cheese Pizza, Tusks~N~Horns, Three Chicks Feed, Seed & Café, Rudy’s Grill, The Health Nut, Hopkins Icehouse, Osaka Japanese Steak House, Ruvalcaba Tacos & Antojitos, Larry’s Pizza, and Taquitas Plus.
