New Boston, Hooks split A games

HOOKS, Texas—Romyane McChester swished in 11 points to lead New Boston over Hooks, 35-10, in a girls eighth grade A basketball game on Monday.

Alley Jefferson paced the Lady Hornets with seven points.

Kaydence Hodge ripped the cords for eight points, and Hooks won the eighth grade B game, 12-10.

Kayahna Harrison and Kemeroia Haywood each had four points for the Lions.

Kinsley Birdwell lit up the nets for 15 points, and the Hornets won the seventh grade A game, 25-7.

Abrianna Scott scored four points for New Boston.

Jaidyn Henderson had four points, and Hooks tied the Lions, 6-6, in the seventh grade B game.

QC, Redwater split

QUEEN CITY, Texas— Redwater’s eighth grade won the A game, 29-19, and Queen City took a 23-12 victory in the seventh grade A game.

Queen City’s leading scorer in the eighth grade game was Sydni Brooke Davis with six points.

Jamecia Cook led the Lady Bulldogs’ seventh grade A team with eight points, and Karley Latham paced the Lady Dragons in the game with nine points.

Redwater won the seventh grade B game, 13-6, with Lake Crump scoring four points. Josie Beckham led QC with four points, also.

Hooks wins both A games

NEW BOSTON, Texas—Matthew Hays lit up the nets for 15 points as Hooks’ eighth grade A team defeated New Boston, 39-27.

Logan Davis contribute­d 12 points for the Hornets, while Malaki Beckham led the Lions with 13 points.

Terez Griffin scored four points as New Boston won the eighth grade B game, 12-5. Kamren Stiger paced Hooks with three points.

Carveion Johnson fired in 13 points and the Hornets won the seventh grade A game, 38-33.

Keyshawn Walls had 10 points for Hooks, and Dontae Thompson had a game-high 14 points for the Lions.

Dakota Rains ripped the cords for eight points, and New Boston won the seventh grade B game, 32-7.

Tyler Groves scored all seven points for the Hornets.

McLeod wins 3 of 4

McLEOD, Texas—McLeod won three junior high games over visiting James Bowie, including both boys games.

The Longhorns’ eighth grade team posted a 12-7 victory with Henry Teer and Preston Bishop each scoring four points for McLeod.

The Lady Longhorn eighth grade won, 23-6, with Andrea Bertrand scoring 10 points for the home team.

The Horns’ seventh grade boys won, 22-13, with Kannon Dempsey pouring in 11 points and Jaxon Smith adding nine for McLeod.

James Bowie won the seventh grade girls game, 23-2.

Bulldogs, Dragons each win 2

REDWATER, Texas—Ty Graf scored eight points as Queen City’s eighth grade A team defeated Redwater, 29-21.

Austin Smith had six points, and teammate Chris Giambrone scored four for the Dragons.

Ian Robinson and Cort Tittle each had two points, but Redwater fell to Queen City in the eighth grade B game, 7-4.

Brody Johnson and Luke Wheat scored four points apiece to lead the Dragons to a 10-7 win over the Bulldogs in the seventh grade A game.

Clint Wiley scored five points for Queen City.

Ethan Shumate fired in four points as Redwater defeated the Bulldogs, 9-5, in the seventh grade B game. James Johnson scored three points for the Dragons.

Kade Burden swished in three points for Queen City, while teammate Kaden Satterfiel­d had two points.
