AREA MEETINGS
NEW BOSTON, Texas— Bowie County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. today to consider appointing board members to county’s newly created Emergency Services District No.#6, located in the DeKalb, Texas, area.
Back on Nov. 6, county residents voted to create the district, which will provide fire fighting service and fire protection in the DeKalb area as well as for the nearby Malta and Hubbard communities in the northwestern part of the county. The vote was 1,256 for and 721 against.The district will have local taxing authority.
Last month, commissioners appointed a board for the county’s newly created Emergency Services District No. 5 in the Simms, Texas, area.
In other business, commissioners will consider permitting advertisement for the sale of a used backhoe for the Precinct 1 County Road Department. They will also consider approving the county’s 2019 Holiday Schedule.
Wake Village City Council members will meet at 6 p.m. today to hold a public hearing on the city’s proposed 2019 Calendar Year Municipal Budget.
Following the public hearing, which will take place inside the Wake Village City Hall Council Chambers at 624 Burma Road, council members will consider approving the budget.
In other business, the council will consider using money from a state governor’s office grant to buy Protech Body Armor for the Wake Village Police Department.

Nash City Council members will meet at 6 p.m. today to consider renaming a street.
The council, which will meet inside the Nash City Hall Council Chambers at 119 Elm St., will consider renaming Emerald Street as Dr. John Parker Drive.
Council members will also consider approving the use of state funds from the governor’s office to start construction on Bob Bunch Parkway.
