ON YULE PROGRAM

The College Hill Junior High Ensemble will sing in a Christmas music program at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 13. Also on the program will be the Beginners’ band, the training chorus, the band and Glee club. The bands are directed by George J. Davis and the singers by Mrs. Davis, Gwin Harden, Elizabeth Roach, Vicki Cunning, Carolyn Smeltzer, Dan Baker, Nelda Evans, Susan Lingo, Mary Lou O’Neal and Karen Cook.

Dec. 11:

CLEAN UP STREETS

Texarkana, Ark., has recently purchased a curb cutter attachment to trim grass from the edges of streets. The attachment fits on a tractor which cuts in advance of the street sweeper. Leon Ward, city engineer, and Herman Cornelius, street superinten­dent, inspect the results of the new cutter.

Each passing year brings the music recording industry in this country closer to the brink of collapse. The breakdown will come that year when the record companies are finally unable to think up any more new ways of doing Christmas music.

Dec. 14: CAP PISTOL TOTER FAILS IN ATTEMPT AT ROBBERY HERE

An armed robber’s plans were fouled when an employee of a local liquor store didn’t act like he was supposed to. A man entered the Rock House Liquor at Fifth and Wood Streets and ordered two bottles of whiskey from Eugene Long. Eugene told an officer he filled the order and handed them to the man. ”When I handed him his order he pulled a pistol and told me to give him the money … I ducked down behind the counter and crawled to the rear of the store. He followed and leaned over the counter and clicked the gun two times at me and then ran out.”

Dec. 15:

DAR GOOD CITIZENS

Miss Deborah De Marce, a senior at Liberty Eylau High School, and Miss Millie Haltom from Texas High School, where she is a senior, have been selected DAR Good Citizens by the Lone Star Chapter at their respective schools. Miss De Marce is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry De Marce. Miss Haltom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Haltom.

Dec. 16: COLLEGE CHOIR SLATES CONCERT

The Texarkana College Choir will be presented in concert Tuesday, December 24, at 7:30 p.m. on KTAL TV. The 30 minute audio-video show will be taped in Shreveport, Louisiana at KTAL TV studio Tuesday, December 16th.
