TISD’s Lambert named Principal of the Year
Tim Lambert, principal of Texas Middle School, has been named the State of Texas Secondary Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
He was one of three finalists in the state for Middle School Principal of the Year and after receiving that award, was then positioned against the state High School Principal of the Year for the top award.
Lambert was one of 20 finalists selected as a Regional Middle School Principal of the Year in June 2018. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.
“I’m still very surprised and shocked at the moment,” Lambert said. “All afternoon I have just been thinking about how big of an honor it is. I am proud to be selected and I am proud of our school campus and staff and just honored to represent this school district and the state of Texas in this way. It’s just amazing to me.”
Lambert became principal of Texas Middle School in June 2013.
He began his career in education in 1993 and has served as a teacher, coach and administrator within elementary and secondary schools in the area. Lambert served as principal for Hughes Springs Elementary from 2002-2005, special education director for the Cass County Cooperative from 2005-2008, principal for Daingerfield High School from 2008-2011 and princi-
pal of Atlanta High School from 20112013, where he was named the TASSP Region VIII High School Principal of the Year in 2013.
He received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master of science degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce along with principal and superintendent certifications.
Lambert served for 10 years as a non-commissioned officer for the U.S. Air Force Reserves stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, La.
He will be recognized during the Jostens Night of the Stars Awards Dinner during the June 2019 TASSP Summer Conference in Austin. Lambert will now advance to compete for the National Association of Secondary School Principals Principal of the Year Award.
