Tigers smash Pittsburg

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas— Texas High run-ruled Pittsburg in their second day of action in the Sulphur Springs Invitation­al, 16-4.

Lindsey Egger received the win in the circle for the Lady Tigers.

Korri Hamilton led the Tigers at the plate going 3 for 3 with two triples, a double and 4 RBI.

Bailey Groom finished 3 for 3 for THS at the dish with two doubles, a triple and 3 RBI in the rout.

Sophie Cree and Valeria Perez each added two hits apiece for the Tigers in the win.

Hooks 11, Maud 1

HOOKS, Texas—Hooks defeated Maud, 11-1, in a varsity softball game Friday on the Hornets diamond.

The game was called after 4 1/2 innings by the 10-run rule.

Hooks’ Karlee Clark gave up four hits over five innings, striking out four.

The Lady Hornets offensive leaders were: Abby Russ with three hits, including a double and two RBI, Makayla Duhan with two hits and two RBI, Sidney Pardue with two hits and two RBI and Alyssa Whitten with two hits and three RBI.

Makenzie Dooley took the pitching loss, giving up 13 hits in four innings.

Tennis

Tigers placed fourth

CORSICANA, Texas—Texas High’s team of Quinn Sanders and Walker Trippe won second place in the Boys A doubles division Friday in the Mertz Invitation­al tennis tournament at Corsicana High School.

The Tigers’ Haak Chesshir also placed fourth in Boys A single.

Texas High travels March 1 to McKinney for its next action.
