JAMES HOBBS

-

James Michael (Mike) Hobbs passed away July 13, 2019 surrounded by his precious family and friends at Hospice of Texarkana. He was born September 15, 1952 in DeKalb, Texas the son of Norman G Hobbs and Mattie Howard Hobbs. Mike was a Christian, lifetime resident of New Boston and graduated New Boston High School in 1971. He was a Maintenance Supervisor at Day and Zimmerman.

Mike was a people person, never met a stranger with a smile that lit up a room. A valued lifetime friend to many, he continued to form special bonds with various sectors of friends over the years. He was a man’s man, an avid hunter, fisherman and a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited and the NWTF.

He fought his battle with a vengeance for 2 years, constantly pushing and trudging and reporting faithfully to work, despite his altered health, with a passion for his job and love for his coworkers. He had a respected wealth of knowledge of industrial equipment and was known for his millwright boiler operator expertise. Never losing hope or giving in, he was able to experience many special hunting and fishing trips during his fight. It was only fitting that he was carried fishing only days before his journey ended.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Tressa Johnson Hobbs, son Dusty Hobbs of Foreman, AR; daughter and son-in-law Morgan and Kolby Holder of DeKalb, TX; the absolute light of his life, his grandchildren, Kynli Holder, Kane Holder, Karsyn Hobbs, Koy Holder, Kooper Holder and Kollyns Hobbs. Sisters Susie Geraci and Donna Hobbs Ellis of Houston; Mary Lou Krueger, Utah; Sandra Stocks, Naples, TX; Richard Ellis, Jacksonville, FL and numerous friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Wednesday July 17th at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Brother Steve Minter officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Tuesday July 16th at Bates Rolf Funeral Home in New Boston. In lieu of flowers, please honor his memory with donations to Hospice of Texarkana.
