Duck Race will be held Aug. 17
The CHRISTUS St. Michael Foundation’s Great Texarkana Duck Race takes place at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at Holiday Springs Water Park, 5501 Crossroads Parkway, Texarkana, Ark. Proceeds from the event will benefit cardiovascular services at St. Michael Health System.
Rubber ducks ‘adopted’ by people in the community will race for some great prizes during the event. Prizes include a Kia Rio LX for first place, a $1,000 Dillard’s gift card, a $1,000 gift certificate from Holiday Cleaners, a $1,000 gift card from Classic Car Wash and a $500 gift card from Super 1 Foods.
Ducks can be adopted for a donation of $5 each, or adopt five ducks and receive a sixth duck free for a donation of $25. Adoptions will be available online at christ us st michael foundation. org or by calling Duck Central at 903-614-7223 until 4:30 p.m. Aug. 16. Duck adoption papers can also be picked up at Duck Central at St. Michael.
Monkey Island and Splash Mountain Texarkana will be open from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for family fun activities on race day. Admission into the Duck Race at Holiday Springs Water Park will be free with the adoption of one duck. One minor child will be admitted into the event when accompanied by an adult who adopted a duck (One child per duck). All people must exit the park by 10:45 a.m. Only 3,000 people will be admitted on a firstcome, first-serve basis.
In advance of the Duck Race there will be a Duck Labeling Party from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 in St. Michael’s North Conference Center at 2600 St. Michael Drive, Texarkana, Texas. Volunteers will label 12,000 ducks for this year’s race.
