PGISD names four new administrators
Pleasant Grove Independent School District’s Board of Trustees approved three administrative personnel positions during its July 9 meeting.
Ashley Barker was named assistant principal of Pleasant Grove High School, Natalie Reeves was named assistant principal of Pleasant Grove Elementary School and Dr. Tina Antley was named director of special programs. The board approved Ramon Hernandez as PGHS assistant principal in June.
Barker has been with the district for 11 years. She graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies from La mar University in Beaumont, Texas. She earned her Master of Science degree in education administration in 2008 from Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Barker is working on her doctorate degree in education administration from Texas A&M University Commerce and plans to propose her dissertation this fall.
During her time at Pleasant Grove, Barker has taught third and fifth grades and held positions as assistant principal at Pleasant Grove Elementary and at the intermediate school. Her career began at New Boston Independent School District teaching third and fourth grade.
Hernandez joined the district after teaching and coaching for Mount Pleasant ISD for nine years. Hernandez attended Texas A&M University in College Station, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in education administration.
Reeves has been with PGISD for six years. Reeves holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M University-Texarkana. After teaching second and third grade for five years at Pleasant Grove, Reeves served as the elementary interventionist for one year.
Antley joins PGISD from Conway, Ark., where she was the district’s special education supervisor. Antley previously held positions as a speech therapist, elementary principal and elementary assistant principal, where she was named Arkansas Assistant Principal of the Year in 2009. Early in her career, Antley taught special education in Longview ISD and Redwater ISD.
Antley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in speech therapy and special education from the University of Central Arkansas, a Master of Science degree in speech pathology, additional licensure hours for administration from UCA and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Arkansas.
Gibson was been named PGISD’s special education coordinator. Gibson’s role will support the director of special programs. Gibson brings 15 years of experience in education to the position, with three of those in PGISD.
Gibson received her Bachelor of Arts-honors degree in psychology at Texas Tech University, a Masters of Educational Administration degree from Lamar University and a certification in visual impairments from Stephen F. Austin State University. Recent awards include 2018 PGHS Teacher of the Year, 2018 PISD Teacher of the Year and the 2015 New Teacher Mentor Award from A&M-Texarkana, where she is an adjunct professor.
“These leadership changes excite me because each professional brings a dynamic energy to the team,” PGISD Superintendent Chad Pirtle said. “The administrators are focused on setting the highest standard of excellence for our students and staff and these individuals will undoubtedly contribute to our legacy of success.”
