TexAmericas business aims to fly high with new space, contracts
Braswell Services has announced that it is expanding into the building next to its location at TexAmericas Center.
Since its beginning two years ago, the company has enjoyed steady operation and expansion, taking on additional clients.
“We started out selling parts to Red River Army Depot, but now we are branching out,” said Pete Braswell, president and CEO. “Now, we have labor contracts with larger defense entities, like AECOM, VSE and Day & Zimmermann.”
AECOM and VSE are labor contractors with RRAD and other defense installations. Day & Zimmermann performs military readiness operations. At RRAD, they handle trucks, trailers and general military equipment maintenance.
“For D&Z, Braswell is taking over manage
ment of some of their maintenance talent, a Humvee maintenance mission,” Braswell said. “This will help us attract other similar missions.”
The new space adds an additional 8,000 square feet.
“We are operating in our current space at capacity and we need the room,” Braswell said. “This additional space will allow us to accommodate more jobs and contracts that come our way. With the new space, this opens up the ability to expand our workforce, if/when incoming contracts warrant.”
In addition, Braswell Services has now acquired an AS9120B certification, or Aerospace Quality Certificate.
“In order to work with a company like Lockheed Martin or DynCorp, we have to have this particular certification,” he said. “This expands our capacities and gives us the ability to take on certain kinds of aircraft support contracts, like parts procurement and handling repair/replacements kits for various types of aircraft. This certification allows us to take on those missions.
“We had to hire an outside consultant to set up our facility for this. Then we had to bring in an auditor to make sure we were ready. In addition, our personnel had to be trained and checked off on a new set of procedures according to the certification.”
It took Braswell Services about six months to complete the certification.
“The new facility will give us the space necessary to take on these missions we now qualify for when the contracts come in,” he said.
