Lady Lions stay unbeaten in district

NEW BOSTON, Texas — New Boston remained undefeated in District 14-3A play by downing second-place Atlanta in straight sets, 25-20, 25-12, 25-19.

The Lady Lions (23-7 overall) hold sole possession of first place in the district with a 9-0 record while the Lady Rabbs (16-8) fall into a three-way tie at 5-3 with Hooks and Redwater for second place.

New Boston was paced by Maggie Taylor with 17 service points and eight digs, Lauren Hurst had 10 kills, Carleigh Reeves eight kills and three blocks and Tamiya Smith four kills and two blocks. Grace Duffer also had 21 assists and six kills and Carlee Ratcliff 15 digs.

Atlanta entertains Paul Pewitt in another district match Tuesday. New Boston will host Pewitt at 4:30 p.m. (varsity only) next Friday.

Hooks stops Redwater

REDWATER, Texas — Hooks defeated Redwater in three sets to move into a three-way tie for second place in District 14-3A.

The Lady Hornets won 25-23, 25-16, 25-21.

Hooks (20-11 overall) shares second place with Atlanta and Redwater, all having 5-3 district records. New Boston (9-0) is the league leader.

The Hornets were paced by Emma Farquhar with 17 service points, 12 kills and 16 digs, Lexie Frachiseur had 17 kills, 10 blocks and four assists, Alyssa Whitten 17 assists, 10 digs and four blocks and Alley Jefferson seven points and 15 digs. Abby Russ also had 23 digs and six kills, Eva Johnson eight digs and eight assists and Alex Collins five blocks.

Avery stays unbeaten

SIMMS, Texas — Front-running Avery downed host James Bowie in four sets in District 17-2A action on the Lady Pirates home court. The Lady Bulldogs won, 15-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19.

Avery (7-0 district) was led by Brianna Bridges with 11 service points and 16 assists, Taylor Williams had 18 kills and Emily Lamon 12 kills.

The Lady Pirates were fueled by Katie Vaughn with 10 kills, Khloe Walker had nine service points, Sarah Bruce 13 digs and Emily Latham 11 assists.

On Tuesday, James Bowie travel to Rivercrest (Bogata, Texas) and Avery hosts Detroit.
