Hanson, Dierks rout Mineral Springs

DIERKS, Ark. — Austin Hanson rushed for a game-high 96 yards and four touchdowns to power Dierks to the 42-14 victory over Mineral Springs Friday night in varsity football action.

Hanson carried the ball 14 times and scored on runs of 12, 4, 18 and 2 yards for the Outlaws (3-3), who recorded their first district win after two setbacks. He also scored on a 2-point conversion run for Dierks, which rolled up 382 yards total offense.

Dierks’ other touchdowns came on Blake Starks’ 2-yard fumble return and Konnor Shelton’s 18-yard run. Chandler Lowery also ran for a pair of 2-point conversion­s.

The Hornets’ Terrell Fricks passed for a pair of touchdowns, 38 yards to Jeff Gray and 66 yards to Devon Swopes.

The Outlaws led 6-0 at the first break and 20-6 at halftime.

Mineral Springs slips to 2-3, 1-2 with the loss.

Prescott 37, Smackover 20

SMACKOVER, Ark. — Prescott’s Jacobi Nolen rushed for 115 yards and four touchdowns, igniting the Curley Wolves to a 37-20 win over the host Buckaroos.

Prescott climb to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in Conference 5-3A while Smackover slips to 2-4, 1-2.

The Wolves jumped out to a 20-7 first-quarter lead and then outscored the Buckaroos 14-6 in the second half.

Nolen carried the ball 25 times and scored on runs of 4, 1, 31 and 3 yards, all but the latter coming in the first half.

Prescott’s other touchdown came on a Derrium Thompson’s 80-yard kickoff return. Luis Rabadan also kicked a 23-yard field goal and three extra points.

The Wolves finished with 384 yards total offense, with 286 coming on the ground. Smackover had 244, with 127 coming via the airways. The Buckaroos also turned the ball over twice.
