Man reports robbery; even lost his pants

TEXARKANA SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Ragland entertaine­d with a lovely family dinner last evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Sam S. Ragland, whose wedding took place in Beaumont last Wednesday. Those present, besides the honored, were Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Ragland, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Daniels, and Messrs. Ben Tucker and Harry Ragland.

Miss Mary Buchanan of Stamps is the guest of Mrs. Robert Morris. ALSO — Miss Helen Meade departed Monday for New York, where she will be bridesmaid in a school friend’s wedding. Miss Meade plans to spend part of the winter in New York.

Oct. 23:

SECTION FLOODED

Boats were in heavy demand early today by the marooned colored boat by the people in the area in the vicinity of Preston Street and Park Avenue on College Hill. The high water mark around that vicinity was reached early this morning, following a regular torrent of rain that caused the creeks to overflow and unite in an effort to sweep away the countrysid­e.

EVEN LOST HIS PANTS

Claiming that he was robbed of $12 at the point of a pistol, and then induced to put up his trousers for $5, after which this sum was lost against crooked dice. R. Ewing claims two men held him up for $12, telling him that he would have to shoot dice to get the sum back. After he had played and lost, he stated that he was then prevailed upon to put up his trousers for $5, which amount he also lost, being forced to borrow a ragged pair of pants in which to make his way to town. Ewing complained to officers and caused the arrest of the two men.

Oct. 25:

TWO AUTOS COLLIDE

Mr. Vanstan’s car was slightly damaged this afternoon when the big motor truck of the Standard Paint Company crashed into it at the corner of Fourth and Pine streets. Mr. Vanstan and his wife were in their car, with Mr. Vanstan driving. A man employed by the Standard Paint Company was driving the truck. The front wheel and left fenders of Vanstan’s car were slightly damaged, while the rear right wheel and fenders were torn off the truck, and the body damaged. No one sustained injuries.

Oct. 26:

MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED

The following marriage licenses have been issued by the county clerk of Miller county: Lester Howell, 22, and Ruth Cozine, 21, both of Texarkana, Clarence Balden Murphy, 26, Austin, Texas, and Miss Stella Smegner, 20, of Tyler, Texas.
