Lady Hawks trip up North Lamar

TEXARKANA, Texas — Pleasant Grove strengthen­ed its grip on second place in the District 15-4A volleyball race as the Lady Hawks swept North Lamar, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23, Friday in Hawk Gym.

Pleasant Grove improves its district mark to 5-2 with one game remaining against league-champion Paris (7-0) on Tuesday, also at Hawk Gym. Paris pounded the Hawks, 3-0, on Oct. 22 in Paris.

Pleasant Grove had several standout performanc­es against North Lamar, which now has three district losses. Adi Koller served 10 winners, Georgia Cobb had 14 kills, Katie Ferguson had 12 assist and eight points, Hallie Lipham 11 points, seven assists and six kills and Lexi Snyder 15 digs.

The Hawks lost the JV match, 25-18, 25-17, but the PG ninthgrade team won, 25-16, 25-22, with Savanna Russ serving 10 points.

Lindale stops Tigers

TEXARKANA, Texas — Lindale held on to second place in District 15-5A with a four-set victory over Texas High in the Tiger Center.

The Lady Eagles won, 25-11, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20. Lindale trails league-leading Greenville.

The Lady Tigers were led by Olivia Lower with 17 kills and 18 digs, Ashlyn Stiger had 13 kills, 17 points and six blocks, Lauren Allred 15 assists and 14 points, Ashanti Northcross 21 digs and 16 points, and Valeria Perez 19 digs and 10 points.

Texas High won the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-20, with Arianna Thomas serving 13 points for the winners.

The Tigers also won the freshmen match 28-26, 16-25, 26-24. Anna Shults, Kiara Martin and Victoria McCord served 16 points each for Texas High.

Hooks wins in 5 sets

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas — Hooks outlasted Paul Pewitt in a five-set District 14-3A match, with the Lady Hornets winning 25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-9.

Hooks, climbing to 8-4 in district, was paced by Emma Farquhar with 33 digs, 16 kills and 15 service points, Alley Jefferson had 30 digs and 18 points, and Lexie Frachiseur 22 kills, 11 blocks and seven digs. Hooks’ other standouts were Abby Russ 34 digs, and six kills, Alyssa Whitten 25 assists and five kills, and Eva Johnson and 16 assists and seven digs.

Lions climb to 11-0

NEW BOSTON, Texas — Carlee Ratcliff had 11 service points and 28 digs and Grace Duffer had six kills and 22 assists to lead New Boston to the District 14-3A victory over Queen City, 25-16, 25-19, 25-18.

The Lady Lions, who have clinched their second straight district championsh­ip under coach Haylee Houston, are 26-7 overall and 11-0 in district. They went 11-1 in league play last season, losing a match on the road at Redwater. The two teams will square off Tuesday in the regular-season finale on the Lions’ home court.

It will be New Boston’s “Senior Night,” with action getting under way at 4:30 p.m.

The Lions had a team effort in disposing of Queen City. Lauren Hurst and Tamiya Smith had 10 kills each, Chloe Davis and Emma Holland seven kills apiece, and Haley McAlexande­r 21 assists and nine service points.

Maud reaches playoffs

MAUD, Texas — Maud defeated Clarksvill­e in straight sets as the Lady Cardinals clinched a spot in the state playoffs with a 25-9, 25-8, 25-22 triumph over the Lady Blue Tigers.

Brynn Sultz was Maud’s leading server for Maud with 12 points, while Lanie Lee and Avery Culpepper each served 11.

Other Cardinals’ standouts were: Haley Yates (17 assists), Alivia Carroll (nine kills), Brynn Sulyz (six kills, seven digs), Lanie Lee (six kills, seven digs) and Taylor Pate (seven digs).

Clarksvill­e’s leading server was LaQuesha Clark, with six points.

Ponies win 2nd straight

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas — Hughes Springs won its second straight District 15-3A match by defeating Daingerfie­ld, 25-12, 25-12, 25-18.

Daingerfie­ld got 10 digs from Kayleigh Phillips and five blocks from Kiara Robinson.

The Lady Mustangs close out the regular season Tuesday at Jefferson while Daingerfie­ld travels to Elysian Fields.
