ANNIE HARTMAN

-

Annie Estelle Hartman, age 97 of Fouke, AR took her last breath on this Earth on October 25, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. Annie began her life April 30, 1922 in Klondike, TX born to Sallie Jane Chancellor George and James William George.

Annie was the mother of 11 children. Six of whom have preceded her in death. She was nanny to the children of Shiloh Baptist Church for 25 years and loved and cared for them as if they were her own.

As young as the age of 5, she cared for her siblings while her parents worked in the cotton fields and share cropped. She helped pick cotton having to put hers in a flour sack because she was so small. As she got older she and her brother would work odd jobs and work in the fields to earn money to help feed her family.

Annie loved fish—catching them as well as eating them. She also loved picking berries and poke salad and all sorts of other wild greens—anything that was good to eat really. She cooked all of those things as well as the wild game that was brought to her at times. You could always find something good to eat at her house.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist church. She loved the Lord and the family that He gave her. And she taught her children to love. Every conversation ended with “I love you”

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Jess May and Claud Hartman, six children Gary May, David May, Betty Diane Harvin, Dorothy Harvin, Linda Gossett and Janice Hall, and two grandsons Jess Albert May and Stanley Michael Bull, Jr.

She leaves behind one son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Karen Hartman of Texarkana, and four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherry and Howard Moore, Melody and Stanley Bull, Donna Hartman, and Tammy Hartman all of Fouke; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas on Thursday from 6-8 pm.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church with Bro. Todd Reed and Bro. Wes Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
