Lady Hogs beat J.A. Fair, 61-42

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas High rode a balanced scoring attack to knock off J.A. Fair, 61-42, in varsity girls basketball action Friday.

The Lady Backs had three double-figure scorers, including Fortunate Barry (13 points), Jamyia Montgomery (12 points) and Staijah Taylor (11 points).

Arkansas High travels to Benton on Tuesday.

Fouke 56, Bismarck 27

BISMARCK, Ark. — Fouke improved its Conference 7-3A record to 6-2 with the 56-27 win over Bismarck.

The Lady Panthers (18-5 overall) were ed by Jade Terry and Christa Wall with nine points each and Annsley Griffith added eight. Hannah Callie had seven markers for the hosts.

Fouke will host Genoa Central on Tuesday.

New Boston 59, Paul Pewitt 28

NEW BOSTON, Texas — New Boston stayed unbeaten in District 14-3A with a convincing win over the Lady Brahmas.

The Lady Lions (18-7) got 14 points each from Carleigh Reeves and Carlee Ratcliff and 12 from Tamiya Smith. DeDe Jones topped Pewitt with eight points.

New Boston plays at Hooks on

Tuesday.

DeKalb 53, Queen City 38

DEKALB, Texas — Emily Barrett netted a game-high 21 points, including four 3-pointers, to help lead the host Lady Bears to the District 14-3A win over the Lady Bulldogs.

DeKalb (6-4 district) also got 12 points from Coriana Fulbright and 11 from Emily Murphy.

Queen City (0-8 district) was led by Hanah Fitts with 12 points.

The Bears play Tuesday at Redwater.

Hughes Springs 48, New Diana 29

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas — Hughes Springs jumped out to a 18-4 first-quarter lead and never looked back in defeating New Diana, 48-29, in a District 15-3A game.

Briana Young sparked the Lady Mustangs with 19 points and Rylie Tenbrook added 11.

Hughes Springs travels to Tatum on Tuesday.

Atlanta 60, Hooks 30

ATLANTA, Texas — Keyona Easter pumped in 26 points to ignite Atlanta to the District 14-3A win over the

Lady Hornets.

Jennifer Easter added 13 points for the Lady Rabbs. Linda Burchette topped Hooks with 10 points.

The Hornets will host New Boston on Tuesday, and Atlanta will be at home against Redwater next Friday.

McLeod 54, Maud 17

MAUD, Texas — McLeod ran its district record to 7-2 with the lopsided win over Maud.

The Lady Longhorns (23-8) were sparked by Sibbie Comer with 17 points, with five baskets coming off 3-pointers. Haley Yates tallied 11 points for the Lady Cardinals.

Boys McLeod 48, Maud 33

MAUD, Texas — McLeod fought back from a 25-17 halftime deficit to beat the host Cardinals, 48-33, in Maud’s gymnasium.

The Longhorns (26-2, 7-0) outscored the Cardinals 31-8 in the second half to post the victory.

Trevor Deel led McLeod with 23 points and Kobe Bonner added 10. Kasen Minter led Maud with 11 points.

New Boston 71, Paul Pewitt 35

NEW BOSTON, Texas — New Boston built a 36-22 halftime cushion and coasted in for a 71-35 District 14-3A victory over Paul Pewitt on the Lions’ home court.

The Lions (14-12, 5-2) got 14 points each fro Kyle Atkinson and Jamin Powell. Colby Frost had 11 points for the Brahmas.

New Boston plays at Hooks on Tuesday in another district game.

Tigers open season

ROCKWALL, Texas — Texas High opened the varsity tennis season with a strong performanc­e in Rockwall.

“We had a great showing in a tough tournament,” said Tiger coach Toby Watson.

Texas High’s Hallie Lower won first place in Girls B single and Lydia Lee was third in Girls A singles.

Lakyn Austin and Katherine Sandefur were third in Girls B doubles, and Marlee Bledsoe and Maddy Bixler were fourthh in Girls A doubles.

Walker Trippe and Haak Chesshir captured third place in Boys A doubles, and Rhett Young and Reagan Potts were third in Mixed A doubles.

Texas High travels to Flower Mound, Texas, next week.
