Cafe mascot passes away

-

GENOA, Ark. — The Three Chicks Feed Seed and Cafe lost perhaps its most customer friendly charmer it has ever had — at least in the last six years.

The popular eatery’s ambassador of welcome, a turkey known as “Trey” passed away last week according to a Facebook post.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Three Chicks has lost a beloved member of our family, Trey.”Trey, the turkey passed due to natural causes on Jan. 29,” the post stated Saturday. “Over his six year-reign, Trey had become a favorite for so many who visited our fun little business.”

The post went on to state that the cafe received Facebook posts from people from throughout the U.S. - as well as from customers visiting from overseas, who had their photos taken with Trey.

Trey’s association with Three Chicks goes at least as far back as 2013 when he became the cafe’s unofficial mascot according to a Jan. 25, 2015 Texarkana Gazette article by reporter Becky Bell

It didn’t take long for Trey to become a celebrity - especially around the Thanksgiving holiday, when all the children who came out to the business’ Feed and Seed store, wanted to have their pictures made with him.

For years Trey shared the back of the cafe with chickens, roosters, baby chicks and even a family of goats and two dogs

“He (Trey) was unique, he was special and he was truly loved by everyone, the post goes on to state. “We were blessed to know him and get to spend the years watching him make people smile and laugh.”
