San Francisco 49ers (NFC) and Kansas City Chiefs (AFC). This is only the third appearance for the Chiefs (1-1), who haven’t played in the game in 50 years and lost to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl I in 1967. The 49ers are making their seventh appearance and have enjoyed the highest winning percentage of any team that has reached the game more than twice, winning in their first five appearances before losing in 2012

to the Baltimore Ravens.

VENUE

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Fla., opened in 1987 as Joe Robbie Stadium. Home to the NFL’s Miami Dolphins and college

football’s Miami Hurricanes.

SEATING CAPACITY

65,000. Attendance record of 80,120 for the 2013 BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame. Two years later, the stadium was renovated and reopened with about 10,000

fewer seats.

HALFTIME SHOW

Pop stars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will perform in their first Super Bowl halftime show. Before this, Gloria Estefan and

Enrique Iglesias were the only Latin artists to perform in

the halftime show.

NATIONAL ANTHEM

Demi Lovato, a former Disney Channel star best known for her songs “Heart Attack” and “Cool for the Summer,” will sing the National Anthem.
