Popular buffet open for business again
Golden Corral makes changes to accommodate pandemic health restrictions for local customers
Golden Corral in Texarkana is open again to diners. Customers may notice a few changes, driven, as you would expect, by pandemic restrictions on restaurants.
“Those in the buffet line will see that, rather than serving themselves, masked servers will put the item they desire on their plate,” said Jason Barkly, general manager. “There is only a one way entrance and exit at the front of the store. We have social distancing in the buffet line as well as in the use of the dining area. All employees on duty are wearing face masks.”
Hand sanitizer is available at various locations in the restaurant.
“In addition, for now, we are not serving breakfast,” he said. “Breakfast is coming back, but that time remains to be determined. Otherwise, our menu remains the same.”
Further changes will depend on guidance from the state level.
“We’ve been doing pretty good, as far as business goes,” he said. “Staff is doing good. They’ve adapted to things better than I thought they would. They are concerned about COVID, but were glad to get back to work.”
Several news sources earlier reported the Golden Corral chain was in trouble.
“A story released by various media outlets that several corporately-owned Golden Corral restaurants would be closed was false,” Barkly said. “Some of the corporately owned ones in COVID hot spots were closed for a time, but have not closed permanently.
He said the Golden Corral in Texarkana is locally-owned and not affected by those decisions. As you can see, Barkly said, “we are open again and serving our customers.”
Golden Corral is new open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
