JEAN EVELYN TYLER

-

Evelyn Tyler, age 90, of Texarkana, Texas, died Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in a local hospice center.

Mrs. Tyler was born March 25, 1930 in Niagara Falls, New York. She was a retired dietician and a member of Fellowship Bible Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Richard Tyler, parents, Carl and Jane Hiltz, and one sister, Charlotte Sweet.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Unger of Texarkana, Texas; her son, Chris Tyler of Euless, Texas; one sister, Alice Schoelles of Largo, Florida; two grandchildren, Tyler Unger, age 14, and Rebecca Unger, age 9, and a number of other relatives.

For two years in the 1960s, while her husband studied medicine in Kagoshima, Japan, Evelyn taught English and shared American traditions to Japanese business executives. Her time in Japan was a source of many humorous stories she later shared with her family. Evelyn was one of the most positive, “cup is half-full” people. Her upbeat attitude was demonstrated by her near-constant smile. She was an excellent homemaker and loved to celebrate the holidays to the fullest. She readily shared the bounty of her efforts with others, freely giving to others fresh-baked bread, goodies, and other treats. Evelyn was very proud of her two children and doted on her grandchildren. She loved her family, friends and, most of all, her Lord and Savior with all her heart.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Fellowship Bible Church with Dr. Richard Hornok officiating. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
