Local nursing facility hosting prayer-chain event

- — From Staff Reports

Retreat at Kenwood is hosting a human prayer chain at 9 a.m. Friday, June 19, at its location, 210 N. Kenwood Road, Texarkana, Texas.

The goal is to get at least 25o people to encompass the senior nursing facility in this chain.

Prayers will be offered for 1) the residents at the facility, 2) the families of residents, 3) the employees there, 4) other Texarkana nursing facilities and 5) the community as a whole

“Because this is about our community, we want all denominations and all walks of life to be a part of this project,” according to a statement in the press release. “We wanted to do something for our facility but in the process realized that maybe by us doing this, it could be a bigger inspiration to others in the community. Our hope and prayer is that this act will inspire others to create positivity within their realm.”

Those who want to participate need to be at the facility by 9 a.m. to park and rally.

Five local pastors will speak to the five prayer requests before the chain is created. After the chain is formed there will be a moment of prayer.

The blinds will be raised in resident’s windows so they can see and participate in the event, which should conclude about 9:30 a.m., according to organizers.

Please RSVP by June 15 to suki@retreatatkenwood.com or call or text 903-2788867 so an estimated head count can be established.

“Wear t-shirts with your church, business, or group name on it,” organizers suggest.

“Please know that this is not about the who’s who, but it is about visibly seeing the impact of who chose to be a part of this amazing event.”

Social distancing will be observed during the event and participants are asked to bring a mask to wear. Organizers are working on having some masks available.
