PATRICIA LANE

-

Patricia Ann Morrow Lane, a child of the King, was born on April 13, 1933 in Shreveport, La. Adopted by Edwin Raymond and Flossie Irene Morrow, Patricia lived a life framed in love alongside her brother Danny Ray Morrow. She was greeted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 14, 2020.

As a daughter, Patricia was given the gift of life through a brave and courageous choice and accepted into the arms of parents who immediately dedicated her life to the ways of Jesus. Their greatest desire for their daughter became her legacy — loving others because Christ first loved her.

As a wife, Patricia faithfully loved her husband, Joe, for 68 years. She was a wife of noble character and worth far more than rubies, bringing her husband good all the days of her life. Respected in the community and church, Joe displayed the fullest confidence in Patricia’s love for him. She was his greatest joy and truest love.

As a mother, she loved first her family. Six beautiful children — Ernest (Leigh Ann), Ramona (Mike McLean), Kim (Wade Raulston), John (Theresa), Gary and Angie (Lance Calhoon) — grew up under her gentle care and loving touch. She awoke before the others, provided food for her family and always opened her arms to the poor and needy. She taught her children truth from a deep well of Biblical wisdom, speaking only faithful instruction. Her children and their children have risen up to call her very blessed.

Her mothering love extended past the six she birthed to countless others needing the love and warmth of a mother’s touch. Generations of Texarkana children were raised under her care — both in her home and through her 63 years as the first grade Sunday school teacher at Highland Park Baptist Church.

As a grandmother, she was adored by Brian Lane (wife Leslie and children Levi, Daniel and Abigail), Brady Lane (wife Katherine and daughters Eliana, Abigail and Miriam), Brenton Lane (wife Jenna and sons Evan and Eli), Adrienne Couvillion Felterman (husband Ben and children Cecilia, Charles, Charlotte and Caroline), Cara Couvillion Rodgers (husband Drew and daughters Emery and Amelia), JJ Couvillion (fiancé Elizabeth) Kent Raulston (wife Dewana and son Marshall), Nicole Raulston Ruhnke (husband Timmy), Kristen Lane, Austin Lane, Jenna Lane, Jordan Dudderar, Bailee Lane Reeves, Bryce Lane and Luke Calhoon. Patricia was the most beautiful Granny in all the land and the glue of a family scattered across the country. She kept the grandchildren connected, sharing stories and successes of each one with the thirteen others, always reminding them of the family’s bond of love.

The family and friends of Patricia Lane have known the depths of her love through her daily prayers on their behalf. She prayed with confidence and conviction, believing God cared for her and for her people just as He cares for the birds she so deeply enjoyed. Her stunning life is to be praised for her fear of the Lord and her kindness to all. Her hands have done great work — work which brought her praise throughout the city, and now, the warmest welcome into the arms of Jesus at the gates of Heaven, where her beautiful voice has joined the chorus of eternal praise. Proverbs 31:10-31
