GARY WILCOX

Gary Allen Wilcox, 72, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on June 15, 2020.

Gary was born in Cadillac, Michigan on June 23, 1947, son of the late Gerald and Harriet Wilcox. He was a Vietnam War Veteran who served as an Air Force Intelligence Officer. While stationed in Bangkok, Thailand, he met the love of his life, Somjit “Dow” Wilcox. They settled in Texarkana, Arkansas where they raised their children through 51 years of marriage. Gary retired from Cooper Tires in 2009. He then became a dedicated member of the Loyal Order of Moose where he had a passion for serving. He held all offices within the lodge from trustee to administrator and Governor of the Texarkana Lodge.

He was a 20 plus year member of the Big Buck Lodge. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a strong and caring man who loved and supported those around him. His memory will live through his loved ones.

Survivors include his wife, Somjit “Dow” Wilcox; his children, Jot Wilcox and wife, Melissa, Sherry Jones and husband, Andy, Jennifer Johnson and husband, Jesse, Michelle Cheatham and husband, Greg, Doug Cox and wife, Chrissy and Thit Van Dijk; his grandchildren, Megan Brown and husband, Matt, Shawn Wilcox, Blake Meador, Cameron Jones, Levi Wilcox, Reece Jones, Zoe Cheatham, Mary Wilcox, Marissa Wilcox, Cooper Cheatham, Lubbert Van Dijk, Everette Cox, and Madison Cox; his great-grandchildren, Sutton and Manning Brown.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Harriett Wilcox; his brother, Michael Wilcox; his nephew, Jason Wilcox.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 AM Friday June 19, 2020 at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday June 18, 2020 from 8AM to 8PM at Texarkana Funeral Home – Texas Boulevard. The family will be at the funeral home from 5PM to 8PM.

Contributions may be made to the Mooseheart, Moosehaven, and the American Cancer Society in memory of Gary Wilcox.
