Inside: Bowie County reports new coronaviru­s death,

For the second consecutiv­e day, Bowie County, Texas, has reported a new death because of COVID-19.

The county’s death toll reached 15 on Friday, up from 14 Thursday, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center. The number had previously held at 13 for weeks.

The JOC reported 228 cumulative confirmed coronaviru­s cases Friday, up from 225 Thursday. One hundred Bowie County patients have recovered.

Cass County, Texas’ case count held at 35, with 31 recoveries and two deaths, according to the JOC.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Titus County’s tally rose from 636 to 645 and Red River County’s from 95 to 96, according to the

Texas Department of State Health Services. Morris County held at 31 cases.

Case counts increased in most Southwest Arkansas counties, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. Lafayette

County’s rose from 12 to 13, Little River County’s from 34 to 35, Hempstead County’s from 41 to 43, Howard County’s from 47 to 54, Miller County’s from 77 to 78 and Sevier County’s from 506 to 550.

Pike County remained at seven cases and Nevada County at 87.

After suspending case reporting Thursday to review data, the Louisiana Department of Health adjusted its statistics Friday.

“LDH has implemente­d a new process for improved de-duplicatio­n and parish assignment of data received from labs around the state. In doing so, LDH identified a total of 1,666 existing duplicate cases as well as cases of out-of-state residents. These have been removed in the updated case count today,” the LDH website stated.

In Northwest Louisiana, Caddo Parish’s count was adjusted downward from 2,933 Wednesday to 2,831 Friday. Bossier Parish’s tally shot up from 528 Wednesday to 643 Friday.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 14,631 total cases so far, with 214 deaths. Louisiana reported 48,515 cases with 2,972 deaths, and Texas reported 103,305 cases with 2,140 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 2,178,710 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 118,365.
