Miller County cases jump by double digits over weekend

Miller County, Arkansas, reported an increase of 14 in its confirmed coronaviru­s cases from Friday to Monday, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

The count jumped from 78 to 92, with 74 Miller County patients recovering from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, as well as two deaths.

Elsewhere in Southwest Arkansas, Hempstead County’s tally rose from 43 to 45, Howard County’s from 54 to 68, Nevada County’s from 87 to 94 and Sevier County’s from 550 to 592.

Pike County held at seven cases, Lafayette County at 13 and Little River County at 35.

Bowie County, Texas, reported four new cases for a total of 232, and 119 of those patients have recovered, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center. Fifteen Bowie County patients have died of COVID-19.

Cass County, Texas, held at 35 cases, with 31 recoveries and two deaths, according to the JOC.

Morris County in Northeast Texas saw an increase of three cases to reach 34, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Red River County’s case count rose from 96 to 99 and Morris County’s from 31 to 34.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 89 cases to reach 2,920, and Bossier Parish added 25 cases to reach 668, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 16,083 cumulative cases with 227 deaths, Louisiana reported 50,239 cases with 3,004 deaths, and Texas reported 114,881 cases with 2,192 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 2,275,645 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 119,923.
