Liberty-Eylau announces graduation ceremony plan

Liberty-Eylau Independen­t School will conduct its high school graduation at 8 p.m.tonight at Harris Field.

The district is following state guidelines for graduation ceremonies during COVID-19 and will implement the following procedures:

Parking

■ Attendees will park in the media center, Rader Dome, west campus and tennis courts parking lots in front of the high school. Attendees will enter through the home stadium gates.

■ Graduates will park in the stadium visitor lot. (Band Practice Lot)

Seating Informatio­n

Family members of the same household must sit together in the audience and must be at least two seats away from any other family group at all times. Tape on stadium seats indicates where seating is available. Please do not sit in any seat without tape. Seating will be available on both the home, visitor sides and in designated chairs spaced out on the field of the stadium. Graduates, as well as faculty and staff, will be seated 6 feet apart on the football field.

Attendee Safety

At-risk individual­s are encouraged to watch the ceremony remotely on the Liberty-Eylau ISD Facebook Page. Additional­ly, the heat could be potentiall­y dangerous for those with certain health issues.

Visitors are encouraged to wear masks if they plan to come within 6 feet of another person who is not a member of their household. LibertyEyl­au High School will provide medical personnel and uniformed officers at the ceremony for the safety of all students, staff and community.

Any individual with any signs or symptoms of COVID19 may not enter the graduation ceremony. Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

■ Cough

■ Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

■ Chills

■ Repeated shaking with chills

■ Muscle pain

■ Headache

■ Sore throat

■ Loss of taste or smell

■ Diarrhea

■ Temperatur­e greater than or equal to 100 degrees Fahrenheit

Restrooms

Restrooms will be continuall­y monitored and cleaned throughout the ceremony by Liberty-Eylau ISD facility staff.

2020 Graduate Procedures

Graduates must arrive no later than 7:15 p.m. and report to the Leopard Field House on the west end of the stadium.

Students will not be permitted to have their phones with them during the graduation ceremony.

Graduates will pick up their diploma on Monday, June 29, in the LEHS Office between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. To lessen the exchange of paper, the district will offer digital programs this year. Graduates will receive two copies of the graduation program in their diploma packet.

Graduate’s photos will be taken receiving their diplomas. The LEHS Facebook page will have digital uploads of those photos posted soon after the ceremony. These are free to download and use however graduates wish.

After the Ceremony

There will be a fireworks display to conclude the ceremony. Graduates will remain seated on the field until after the fireworks display. Guests will not be allowed on the field after the graduation ceremony. All guests and graduates must exit the stadium after the firework display in the following order.

Inclement Weather Plan

In the event of inclement weather, Liberty-Eylau High School will hold its graduation ceremony at 8 p.m. Saturday.
