WILLARD GLOYD “W.G.” DAVIS

June 30, 1944 – July 5, 2020 Willard Gloyd Davis, of Bloomburg, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas, surrounded by loved ones.

W.G. was born on June 30, 1944 in Cass, Texas. He was first and foremost devoted to his faith in Jesus Christ and was an active member of Holly Street Church of God in Atlanta, Texas. He traveled around the country as a Pipefitter for several years and was a member of the Army National Guard. The Timber Industry is what brought him the most joy. W.G. was the proud owner and operator of Woodlands Forest Service, Inc. in Bloomburg, Texas for over 35 years. He was a pioneer in the evolution of the Mechanized Logging Industry. He always wanted Logging to be a safer workplace. People from around the world have spent time observing his logging sites since the 1980’s. He was beloved by his employees and affectiona­tely known as “G”or “Number One”.

W.G. was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Kessler Davis, his father, Willard Presley Davis, and his mother, Eunice Verda Philpott Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Thomason Davis; daughter, Jackie Giles and husband Billy; son, Sidney Davis and wife Jessica; grandchild­ren, Kristen Draper and fiancé Cody Via, Brittany Sheffield and husband Adam, Zach Giles, Sydni Brooke Davis, Cody Shields and girlfriend Shade Attaway, great-grandchild­ren, Noah and Greyson Sheffield; brothers, Jimmy Davis, Ted Davis and wife Quenna; sisters, Charlotte Pyle, Judy Calhoun and husband Fred, Niecy Adams and husband Jeff; brother-in-law, Tommy Kessler and wife Vicki; sister-in-law, Sharon Gilmore and husband Steve, and a number of other relatives.

A private service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with Bro. Fred Calhoun, Bro. Vernon Groce, and Bro. Ronald Raines officiatin­g. The service will be livestream­ed at www.sandhillag.org as well as Sand Hill Assembly of God’s Facebook page at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Macedonia Cemetery in Doddridge, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that donations be sent to the Holly Street Church of God building fund or Sand Hill Assembly of God.
