Police arrest Cass County man in his mother’s shooting death

LINDEN, Texas — A 20-year-old Cass County man has been arrested on a murder charge after allegedly firing a gun into a house and killing his mother.

Nathan Johns, 20, is being held in the Cass County jail, according to information from the Cass Couty Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 1 p.m. Thursday to a call of shots fired at a residence on Highway 77, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Melissa Johns was found dead inside the home.

Nathan Johns had allegedly fired several shots with a handgun into the house and one shot fatally struck his mother, according to the sheriff’s office.
