TEXARKANA, Texas — Two men indicted by a Bowie County grand jury this week are charged with different but related crimes and each is listed as victim in one case and suspect in the other.

Olando Quintess Paris, 32, has been indicted for aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with an incident that has resulted in a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for Kelli Devaughan Jack, 20. Each is listed as the other’s alleged victim in probable cause affidavits.

Paris allegedly asked Jack for a ride home after running into him the night of April 22 at a convenience store on Texas Boulevard in

Texarkana, Texas. Paris allegedly asked Jack if he knew where he could purchase some marijuana and Jack agreed to sell him some.

Jack allegedly told investigators he drove his rental car and Paris to the back of the River Crossing Apartments and parked. Once Jack produced a bag of marijuana, Paris allegedly “snatched” it from him and pointed a pistol in Jack’s face.

Jack reportedly told officers that Paris stole his marijuana, his wallet with $100 and his cellphone before attempting to steal the rented Ford Fiesta Jack was driving. Jack allegedly claimed Paris left the door open as he got out of the passenger side and attempted to walk to the driver’s side and pull Jack from behind the driver’s seat.

“Jack said when he (Paris) exited the vehicle he cranked the vehicle up and tried to back out without him, but he jumped back inside. Jack said he drove recklessly through the apartment complex while blowing the horn in an attempt to get help,” the affidavit states. “Jack said he drove them past the Wet Willy’s Car Wash and that’s when the subject pointed the pistol outside of the passenger side window and fired a single gunshot into the air. Then he said the subject took his left foot and forced it on the brake pedal causing the vehicle to stop in the middle of College Drive.”

As Paris allegedly ran on foot through the car wash and onto Potomac Avenue, Jack gave chase in the Fiesta.

“Jack said he attempted to run over the subject twice but missed both times,” the affidavit states.

But Jack did allegedly catch sight of Paris on 40th Street and followed until Paris started crossing Texas Boulevard and that’s when he ran over him with the Ford Fiesta.

Jack reportedly told investigators he walked over to Paris and was able to recover all of his property except his cellphone. As a result, Jack was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In addition to the alleged robbery of Jack, Paris is also accused of robbing another man at the same apartment complex. That man told investigators he was walking his dog when a man approached, pointed a gun at him and stole his wallet and cellphone. He later chose Paris’ mugshot as an image of the man who robbed him.

Paris was indicted Thursday for two counts of aggravated robbery and a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The robbery charges are both punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison. The weapons charge is punishable by six months to two years in a Texas state jail.

Jack was indicted Thursday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted escape. Jack allegedly made his way over the interior chain link perimeter fence at the Bowie County jail annex and attempted to climb over the exterior fence which is topped with concertina wire.

Jack reportedly suffered cuts and scratches to his arms and back and his shirt remained stuck in the barbs of the concertina wire. Jack faces five to 99 years or life if found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. If found guilty of attempting to escape from jail, Jack faces two to 10 years in prison.

Both men are in the Bowie County jail.
