More coronaviru­s cases in Miller, Bowie counties

The confirmed number of coronaviru­s cases in Miller County, Arkansas, and Bowie County, Texas, increased from Monday to Tuesday.

Miller County’s count rose from 280 to 291, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. One-hundred thirty-nine Miller County patients have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, and two have died.

Bowie County’s tally increased from 391 to 407, with 186 recoveries and 28 deaths, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center.

Cass County, Texas’ count rose by eight, from 62 to 70, with 42 recoveries and two deaths, according to the JOC.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Morris County’s count increased from 51 to 54 and Titus County’s from 887 to 916, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Red River County held at 123 cases.

In Southwest Arkansas, Lafayette County’s tally rose from 30 to 32, Little River County’s from 45 to 50, Hempstead County’s from 87 to 96, Nevada County’s from 110 to 112, Howard County’s from 138 to 154 and Sevier County’s from 811 to 819, according to ADH. Pike County held at 20 cases.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 109 cases from Monday to Tuesday, for a total of 4,522, and Bossier Parish added 55 cases to reach 1,370, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 29,733 cumulative cases with 331 deaths, Louisiana reported 82,042 cases with 3,337 deaths, and Texas reported 275,058 cases with 3,322 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 3,355,457 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 135,235.
