Bowie County COVID-19 death toll reaches 29

The local emergency Joint Operations Center on Thursday reported another death from COVID-19 in Bowie County, Texas, bringing the county’s total to 29.

The county’s number of confirmed coronaviru­s cases rose from 408 to 431 from Wednesday to Thursday, with 187 recoveries. There are 215 active cases in the county.

Cass County, Texas’ count increased from 72 to 75, with 44 recoveries, two deaths and 29 active cases, according to the JOC.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Morris County’s tally moved from 54 to 55, Red River County’s from 123 to 129 and Titus County’s from 919 to 934, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County’s case count rose from 293 to 394, with 148 recoveries, two deaths and 154 active cases, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Pike County’s total increased from 23 to 27, Little River County’s from 54 to 55, Hempstead County’s from 96 to 101, Nevada County’s from 112 to 114, Howard County’s from 157 to 158 and Sevier County’s from 822 to 829.

Lafayette County held at 32 cases.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 75 cases from Wednesday to Thursday, for a total of 4,681, and Bossier Parish added 29 cases to reach 1,432, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 31,114 cases with 341 deaths. Louisiana reported 86,411 cases with 3,375 deaths, and Texas reported 292,656 cases with 3,561 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 3,483,832 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 136,938.
