REDI videos sell local workforce

- By Karl Richter

TEXARKANA — Local economic development group AR-TX REDI has produced a pair of marketing videos that aim to lure new businesses to the region by touting workforce training and education in Texarkana.

One of the videos spotlights the Ledwell Workforce Training Center at Texarkana College, and the other points out that Texarkana is the only metro area in the U.S. where two state university systems — Texas A&M and University of Arkansas — have campuses. CEO Rob Sitterley said he is looking into which nation- al markets REDI may want to target with the videos as ads.

“When you combine solid work ethic with a trained and skilled workforce, you have the winning combination for success,” a voiceover narrator says in one video. “If you’re ready for an unfair workforce advantage, you need to explore Texarkana.”

Each about a minute long, both videos end with the tagline, “Skilled. Trained. Ready to work.” They will soon be available to view on REDI’s

Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter pages.

Sitterley said he sent an email

“blast” to the country’s top new-business site selectors last week, along with a personal note to make sure they keep the Texarkana region “top-of-mind” for their clients.

AR-TEX REDI was formed in spring 2018 with the aim of bringing new business and jobs to the greater Texarkana region. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott made a rare joint appearance that September in Texarkana to show support for REDI’s mission. Sitterley was hired as CEO in January 2019.
