Pleasant Grove and Carthage swap wins

TEXARKANA, Texas — Pleasant Grove’s junior varsity fell to Carthage, 42-16, on Thursday at Hawk Stadium.

Garrett Harrison found Rai’mond Harvey on a 25-yard touchdown pass to put the Hawks on the board in the first quarter. Jayden Stewart ran in the 2-point conversion.

Marquis Cornelius had a rushing TD in the fourth quarter for Pleasant Grove.

The Hawks freshmen rolled past the Bulldogs, 40-12. Ahkhari Johnson threw three touchdown passes (20, 65, 12) to Brenton Clark for Pleasant Grove.

Torino Phillips broke free and sped 70 yards to the end zone for the Hawks in the second quarter to make it 21-0. Jackson Gibson plunged in on a 1-yard run to give PG a 28-0 edge.

Johnson dashed 35 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the last score of the game. Clark booted in four PAT kicks.

Hooks junior high splits with Winnsboro

HOOKS, Texas — Dontraviou­s Coulter had three rushing touchdowns on runs of 50, 40 and 25 yards, but the Hooks eighth grade fell to Winnsboro, 50-36.

Jorge Velazquez scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery and threw a 50-yard TD pass to Braden McDonald for the Hornets.

Ripken Birdwell found Landon Harrison on a 95-yard passing touchdown and had two rushing scores to lead the Hooks seventh grade to a 28-14 victory. Birdwell scored from 60 and 45 yards out.

Jamarion Smith added a rushing touchdown and a 2-point conversion, while teammate Blaze Connell had a 2-point conversion and recovered a pair of fumbles on defense.

Lady Tigers’ 8th A post comeback win

TEXARKANA, Texas — Kyndal Lee fired in 18 service points to lead Texas Middle School’s eighth grade A team to a 25-27, 25-19, 25-16 victory over Sulphur Springs in a volleyball match at the Tiger Center.

Kyleigh Perkins had great effort with 22 service points in the seventh grade A match, but the Lady Tigers fell, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23.

Dasia Neal had six service points for TMS in the seventh B match, but the Lady Cats won, 25-12, 25-11.

Lady Mustangs take 2 against Lady Backs

RED LICK, Texas — Madilyn Price and Ali Cheatham each had seven service points to lead Red Lick’s eighth grade A team to a 13-25, 25-21, 15-13 win over North Heights.

Taylor Pascarella had a match-high 13 service points for the Lady Backs.

Abby Henard’s 11 service points contribute­d to the Lady Mustangs’ 6-25, 30-28, 15-9 victory in the seventh grade A match. Cali Brown had a match-high 18 points on serve for North Heights.
