Redwater girls defeat Libery-Eylau

REDWATER, Texas — Host Redwater defeated Liberty-Eylau in straight sets in varsity volleyball action Friday. The Lady Dragons won 25-15, 25-20, 25-16.

Karsyn Graf led Redwater with 14 service points, Cooper Frachiseur and Delaney Edwards added seven assists each. Sydney Hornbuckle and Kyndal Missildine had 5 kills each for the Dragons (7-1).

Redwater also won the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-8. Madi Abston served 15 points for the winners.

The Dragons open district play Tuesday at New Boston.

Queen City wins in 3

LINDEN, Texas — Queen City’s Chyna Stiger served 10 points, including five straight aces, to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a three-set victory over Linden-Kildare.

Queen City won 25-17,. 25-23, 25-18.

The Bulldogs other leaders were Tia Wilson with nine kills, Mallori Stringer had 12 points, six assists, Alex Larry 11 service points, and Gracie Weeks six kills. Angelyna Meggs had 12 points for LindenKild­are.

Queen City plays host to Paul Pewitt on Tuesday.

Hooks defeats Winnsboro

Hooks’ seventh-grade football team defeateed Winnsboro, 28-14, in middle school football action Thursday night.

Ripken Birdwell scored two touchdowns and passed for another for the Hornets. He scored on ruhs of 60 and 45 yards and also hooked up with Landon Harrison for a 95-yard touchdown pass.

Jamarion Smith added a rushing touchdown, and also had a 2-point conversion, and Blaze Connell had a 2-point conversion, and also recovered two fumbles on defense.

Winnsboro won the eighth-grade game, 50-36. Dontraviou­s Coulter had three rushing touchdowns for Hooks on runs of 50, 40 and 25 yards.

Jorge Velazquez passed 50 yards to Braden McDonald for a touchdown ans also recovered a fumble for a TD for the Hornets. Mikey Baysinger added a 2-point conversion, and Hudson Davis had an intercepti­on.
