JOEL PERKINS

-

Joel Paul Perkins, 66 of Texarkana went home to be with His Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was born on June 2, 1954 in Texarkana, TX to Joel and Louise Perkins. He married the love of his life, Karen Couvillion and they set a wonderful example of a Christ centered marriage. He passed away in his home after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his granddaughter, Cameron Townsend.

Joe Paul was a committed Christian, an active member of Christ Community Church and former long-standing member of Texarkana Reformed Baptist Church. He was a loving husband; an amazing Daddy, and the best Pappy 9 grandkids could ever imagine. He was known by all the kids as the “Sucker Man” because they knew he always had a pocket full of suckers. He enjoyed hard work, fly fishing with his brother, turkey hunting with his buddies, but mostly he loved his family and playing with his grandkids.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Karen, 3 daughters and 3 very special sons-in-law, Amanda & Jeremy Townsend, Natalie & Justin Rushing and Melissa & Grant Hickerson; 9 grandkids, Addison, Rhett and Karoline Townsend, Joshua and Caleb Rushing and Sawyer, Shepard, Silas and Sutton Hickerson; his brother Jimmy Perkins, sister Mary Johnson and many extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at Chapelwood Funeral Home with a graveside service following.
