Tracy Jones announces write-in bid for 4th District House seat
TEXARKANA, Texas — Local small business owner and ministry director Tracy Jones has announced his write-in candidacy to represent Texas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Jones’ campaign filed the necessary Declaration of Write-in Candidacy and paid a $3,125 fee by the Aug. 17 deadline to become eligible for election, he said Wednesday.
He is taking on Republican Pat Fallon, Democrat Russell Foster and Libertarian Lou Antonelli in a bid to fill the seat vacated by Republican John Ratcliffe, who resigned to become Director of National Intelligence.
Jones is a native Texan born in Mount Pleasant and raised in Dalby Springs, according to his website, tracyjonesforcongress.com.
“I am not a politician and I am tired of the failure in partisan politics. I am a Christian conservative who believes in citizen legislators. Through many events in our community, I’ve worked alongside people of every culture, color and creed; bringing unity and organization.
“I am alarmed by the division in our nation. It’s time for a voice from among the people, to represent the people,” the website states.
Jones emphasizes his unaffiliated status, as well as his pro-life and pro-Constitution stances. He is critical of government response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With COVID-19, our government showed their willingness to step around the constitution to enact laws and restrictions that put the government out of balance with the constitution,” the website states.
In August, Republican Party officials in the district chose Fallon to replace Ratcliffe on the ballot.
Election Day is Nov. 3. Early voting in Texas begins Oct. 13, and the deadline to return an application for a mail-in ballot is Oct. 23.
