RONALD BERTELL NEWTON

Ron Newton, of De Kalb, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. He was 86.

Ron was born November 2, 1933 in Florence, Alabama to Baxter Paul and Esther Laverne James Newton. He was Veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired Electronic Technician. Ron was a member of First United Methodist Church of De Kalb, Texas where he attended the Challenger Sunday School Class and the Avery Masonic Lodge #921. He enjoyed and was a great woodworker.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two wives, Peggy Elder Newton and Sarah Rains White Newton.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Payne Newton of De Kalb, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Mike McGuigan of Cleveland, Ohio and Rhonda and Ross Schwab of De Kalb, Texas; one stepson, Al Holcombe and his wife, Sherry of De Kalb, Texas; two stepdaughters, Joan Newman and her husband, Dennis of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Diane Winn and her husband, Tommy of Dallas, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Dustin Tippie and his wife, Ashley, Leah Enquist and her husband, Jeff, Eddy McGuigan and his wife, Angie, Laura Spencer and her husband, Michael, and Roscoe Schwab; seven great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Woodmen Cemetery Pavilion in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Amanda Stratton officiating. Interment will follow at Lydia Cemetery in Lydia Texas under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Newton will lie in state Friday, September 25, 2020 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. The family will be present from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
