LAST YEAR: The Lions beat Texas High, 16-0, when the teams were in the same district.

GAME FACTS: This will be the season opener and one of the first games for any Texas 5A or 6A school, as the UIL postponed the start of Classes 6A and 5A until this week. The Lions have won the last four meetings between the schools. THS dropped from Class 5A, Division I to 5A, Div. II this past realignment. COACH GERRY STANFORD’S COMMENTS: “We’re real excited to get back on the field, against a really good team. We just want to see improvement from our guys, from week to week. It’s going to be a really big test, going into Tyler.

“Historically, since 2009, we haven’t had a lot of success against Tyler. We’re excited to get out there and get to work.”
