UAHT Foundation announces community fish fry

- By Andrew Bell

HOPE, Arkansas — The University of Arkansas at Hope will hold a community fish fry here on Friday, Oct. 23, to support the UAHT Foundation, which helps provide scholarships for students.

The 27th Annual UAHT Community Fish Fry will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The fish fry will be drive-through only this year, and will be accessed through the main entrance to the Hope campus by the electronic sign.

The cost is $10 per plate, and all proceeds will benefit the UAHT Foundation.

“The UAHT Fish Fry supports U-Can Scholarships and Arkansas Single Parent Scholarships. These are very important for our students’ success,” said Executive Director of the UAHT Foundation Anna Powell. “The U-Can encourages students to restart and attain their education goals.”

Powell has confidence that the community will come out and show support.

“Historically, we raise around $10,000 annually for this cause and have high hopes that the community will come and support the event through sponsorship and ticket sales,” she said.

The fish fry will feature fried catfish and Tyson chicken, cooked by the Hope Lions Club.

“The fish fry will look a little different this year, but I know the generous support shown by our community at the yearly event will continue,” Powell said. “This event provides funding and scholarships for students who may not otherwise be able to afford a college education.”

Tickets are on sale now at the UAHT Foundation Office located on the Hope campus.
