PATRICIA ANN ADAMS

-

Our mother, Patricia Ann “Nana” Ormond Adams went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2020 with her daughters by her side.

She was born August 1, 1932 to Wesley and Thelma Ormond in Ruston, Louisiana where she grew up. She met our dad at the Ruston swimming pool where he was a lifeguard and student of Louisiana Tech. They were married October 21, 1949 in Ruston, La. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy “Big T” Adams, daughter Debra Daniel, son David Adams, grandson Chris Brewer, and son-in-law Larry Brewer.

She is survived by her son, Stanley & Darlene Adams of Broussard, LA; her daughters, Janet Brewer and Donna & Ric Abernathy; grandchildren, Ben & Lagina Adams, Jennifer & Derek White, Travis Brewer, Traci & Randy Morgason, Katharine Hooper, Julie Daniel, Mary Ann Adams, Amanda & Houston Mills; great grandchildren, Nate & Hannah Adams, Mason McPherson, Ashlynn & Memphis Brewer, Tessa Morgason, Kiley & Felicity Hooper, and Carson Elliott Mills; and her beloved and long-time friend through thick and thin, Dr. Marianne Seidel.

Mom loved her family and God. She was an awesome cook and homemaker.

She loved gardening, our family cabin at Millwood, and all family gatherings. She loved playing cards and dominoes with her sisters and brothers years ago. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends, feeding us all and always having plenty of food. She was always kind and a caring person. She raised her 5 children, and during our teenage years she returned to college and earned her LVN degree. Later years in Texarkana, she returned and achieved her RN degree. She worked for 30 years as a nurse, most of those years at Wadley Hospital. She and dad attended Sugar Hill Methodist Church, always ready to help when needed at church functions.

While living at Cornerstone for the last 2 1/2 years, we attended the chapel many times, she loved attending church and loved singing hymns. We are grateful for the care she received and friendships she made while at Cornerstone Retirement Community. Thanks to all those that took a moment to speak to our mother, showed kindness and blessed her life daily.

Meeting her dear friend, Dr. Marianne Seidel was a blessing to both of them through good times and bad.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 2pm at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston, Louisiana with Rev. Dale Oden officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home. Live streaming/feed of services will be available on their Facebook.
