TEXARKANA, Ark. — Arkansas High met their match on Tuesday at Razorback Gym.

The Lady Backs fell to White Hall in three set, 25-21, 25-17,25-20.

“We got outplayed tonight,” Arkansas High head volleyball coach Kaylee Treas-Dalby said. “We just didn’t play good. It was very noticeable. We had a few people that were off, but we usually fight back. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t play better.”

After trailing 12-7, Arkansas High roared back to tie the set, 13-13, before taking their first lead of the set, 17-13.

White Hall scored seven points unanswered, 20-17, before the Lady Backs broke serve.

AHS was able to garner two more points before the Bulldogs took the set, sweeping the match.

“This is our second time to play them,” Treas-Dalby said. “We went in prepared, we just didn’t play well. We didn’t execute. We didn’t do the small things right.”

White Hall jumped out on Arkansas High early in the set, 6-3.

The Lady Backs were able to scatter points on Bulldog hitting errors, but the White Hall net-play was too much for AHS throughout much of the second set.

Millie Henderson led the Lady Backs with six kills and eight assists, while teammate Keonnie Strickland added five kills with five blocks.

Alexyee Nowlin added eight points and four aces for AHS.

Arkansas High clawed back, 24-18, before the Kacie Byrd finished the set for the Bulldogs with a kill.

“We can’t get down,” Treas-Dalby said. “We can’t let this affect the rest of our season. Our biggest thing, is that we can’t play down. When things get tough, that’s when you have to fight the hardest.”

Both squads opened the match swapping points from the service line and one hitting errors.

The Lady Backs took their largest lead of the set when Henderson was at the service line, 10-6.

Arkansas High and White Hall traded points until the the contest was tied 21-21.

Lilly Hood took over for the Bulldogs at the line and ended the set with four consecutive serves, 25-21.

The Lady Backs are back in action on Thursday, traveling to Hot Springs.
