GLORIA ELIZABETH CHENEY

Gloria Cheney, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 82.

Gloria was born January 27, 1938 in De Kalb, Texas to Loyd and Wilma Gertrude W el ch Cunningham. She was a retired Customer Service Representative for the Baptist Book Store, a member of Westlawn Missionary Baptist Church, and a talented pianist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Nelson Welch Cheney, III; and one daughter, Tammy Elizabeth Minatra.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Nelson and Betty Cheney of Abilene, Texas and Brian and Grace Cheney of Scotch Plains, New Jersey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Ian Miller of Oakland, California and Micki and Isaac Valadez of Helotes, Texas; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James and Gay Cunningham of Durant, Oklahoma and Winston Cunningham of Nashville, Tennessee; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Marsha and Barry Telford of De Kalb, Texas, Lois Crim of Texarkana, Texas, and Brenda Smith of De Kalb, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Woodmen Cemetery Pavilion in De Kalb, Texas with Bro. Steve Reeves officiating.

Mrs. Cheney will lie in state at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, October 3, 2020 for come and go visitation.
