Rabbs score 28 unanswered for initial win
ATLANTA, Texas — Caleb Hamilton rushed for three scores, and Atlanta broke into the win column on Homecoming Friday at Rabbit Stadium.
After Sabine jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, Hamilton had TD runs of 7, 11 and 5 yards during the second quarter — his second coming with around three minutes left in the half and his third in the final minute — as Atlanta earned a 28-14 victory over the Cardinals.
Keith Kinney added a 10-yard scoring run for the Rabbs (1-5, 1-1) who evened their record in 6-3A, Division I with the win. Sabine dropped to 3-3 and 1-1 in league play.
Prior to kickoff, Jennifer Easter was named Homecoming queen.
Paul Pewitt 21, Hooks 20
OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas — Deiontray Hill scored on a 6-yard run with 1:20 to go in the game as Paul Pewitt edged Hooks in a District 10-3A, Division II football game on Friday.
Hayden Green had a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give the Brahmas an early 7-0 lead.
Davarious Clark scored from
20 yards out for the Hornets, but the PAT kick was no good. Paul Pewitt led, 7-6, after the first quarter.
Kielon Estell snagged a 10-yard pass from Benji Johnson to give Hooks a 13-7 lead at halftime. The Hornets had the only score of the third quarter when Johnson threw a 68-yard pass to Clark. Hooks had a 20-7 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Brahma defense shut out the Hornets in the final quarter. Green had a 1-yard TD run with 9:04 to go in the fourth, and Paul Pewitt inched to within six, 20-14.
Kadrien Johnson finished with 144 yards of rushing on 24 carries for the Brahmas.
Linden-Kildare gets first win
It took five games, but Linden-Kildare finally broke into the win column with a 40-30 victory over Union Grove.
The Tigers are 1-4 while Union Grove slips to 2-3.
Queen City also broke back into the win column with a 20-3 victory over New Diana.
Three other area teams suffered setbacks. Redwater dropped a 27-22 decision to Paris Chisum, DeKalb came up short against Prairiland, 28-21, and Gladewater blasted New Boston, 61-14.
