RV reality explored on Bravo’s ‘Don’t Be Tardy’

- By Rachel Jones

Vacation on wheels: Get ready for an unforgettable summer vacation! Five weeks in an RV traveling the United States, seeing sights unseen, exploring the vast country together as a family of eight ... this is surely not the summer vacation that Kim Zolciak had expected, but it is, without a shadow of a doubt, the one she got. And we get to go along for the ride! Season 8 of Bravo’s first “Real Housewives of Atlanta” spinoff, “Don’t Be Tardy,” premieres Tuesday, Oct. 6.

From the start, both Kim and her husband, Kroy, have not been on the same page. Kim wanted her perfect luxury vacation with pristine, glittering white sand beaches and a beautiful ocean-front view, while Kroy wanted to create an unforgettable five-week family adventure complete with lots of quality time and on-the-road, recreational living. Uh oh! Could this spell trouble in paradise for the (happy) couple?

The trailer for Season 8 gives us a sneak peek into the breakdowns, the tears and the discomforts of closequarter living with the Biermanns. We also get to see Kim and Kroy’s children react to the antics as the entire family learns to operate as a unit while facing hilarious run-ins with Texas horses and spooky trips through haunted houses.

Then again, this is Kim we’re talking about, so she will most definitely give us plenty of eye roll-worthy drama to enjoy. Catch the premiere of “Don’t Be Tardy,” Season 8, Tuesday, Oct. 6, on Bravo.

The witching hour: Just in time for Halloween, “Eli Roth’s History of Horror” comes back for a second season. Premiering Sunday, Oct. 10, on AMC, audiences get the eerie privilege of diving deep into the recesses of the horror film genre, yet again, with the “Cabin Fever” (2002) director. Season 2 is sure to include more interviews, more cult classics and more talk of how these haunting films reflected the fear and anxiety of present-day society.

What else will they dig up this season, you ask? Well, witches, monsters, evil youngsters and hell houses for starters. Audiences can also expect to see notable appearances from Oscarwinning directors Jordan Peele (“Get Out,” 2017) and Quentin Tarantino (“Reservoir Dogs,” 1992), notoriously macabre director Rob Zombie (“The Devil’s Rejects,” 2005), famed horror novelist Stephen King (“Maximum Overdrive,” 1986) and even a guitarist from the legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses.

Season 1 of the show was a massive success, bringing in over six million viewers and featuring interviews with scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis (“True Lies,” 1994), Elijah Wood (“Come to Daddy,” 2019) and Diablo Cody (“June,” 2007), to name a few. Following its success, the premiere season was even repurposed as a podcast.

For Season 2, Roth and the producers are pulling out all the stops. From Hollywood A-listers to horror writers and makeup artists, everyone who works hard to build the spooky stories we know and love will get a stake in the action. So, don’t cover your eyes — Season 2 of “Eli Roth’s History of Horror” kicks off Saturday, Oct. 10, on AMC.

Sloppy Chihuahua: Since 2006, “The Real Housewives of Orange County” have filled our homes with high-maintenance, diva-heavy, quality entertainment — but we love it! So, let’s raise our wine glasses to another season of the wealthiest women in California as they navigate their never-too-personal lives and careers in Season 15 of this fabulous series, premiering Wednesday, Oct. 7, on Bravo.

In true 2020 tradition, this season will be a little different than the rest. What starts off as an exciting year of the usual lavish partying, fanatical screaming and “Wake up! You’re a sloppy Chihuahua” chanting, ends up spiraling into a much more realistic state of affairs (but after all, it is a reality show). As it turns out, not even the housewives are immune to the coronavirus, as can clearly be seen by producers correcting the ladies’ physical distancing measures during an interview and one of the housewives confined to the hospital.

While the majority of the cast is returning from Season 14, Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson won’t be rejoining the RHOC cast this year. In their place, we can be sure to see some fresh faces — something which Lydia McLaughlin, who has grown quite close to Gretchen Rossi, is very happy about. There’s nothing quite like a facelift to refresh the usual elite ... especially after last season.

Season 14 dove headfirst into the drama over the season break, enshrouding Kelly Dodd in some juicy gossip. Apparently, according to leaked social media footage, Tamra said that Kelly had thrown her mother down the stairs. Yikes! It looks like this season will have lots of content to cover, from divorces to a weaning party, all while digging the proverbial knife deeper into old emotional wounds. It’s a hot mess of a season, but we would expect nothing less from the 15th.

Don’t miss the season premiere of “Real Housewives of Orange County” Wednesday, Oct. 7, on Bravo.
