Get busy: three fun things to do this weekend
TEXARKANA — The entertainment calendar has understandably been thin in Texarkana for months, but now that October has arrived there appears to be much more to do, including this weekend.
Here are three events to consider:
■ Red Dirt and honky-tonk favorites Jason Boland & The Stragglers bring their “Pearl Snaps” 20th anniversary tour to Texarkana’s 67 Landing for a Saturday night show and celebration of that debut album’s release.
As of early this week, patio and floor tables remained for this concert, which features local band Rewind as openers. For social distancing reasons, there’s limited capacity for this show and no general admission, with tickets starting at $25 for reserved seats. Tickets are sold by the table. Tickets are available via outhousetickets.com. Doors open at 6 p.m.
■ It’s perfect weather to get out and gather with fellow art fans during the Fall Gallery Hop to be held 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at several art galleries in town.
J Brown for the Home, Joel Wright Art Gallery, Regional Arts Center, 1894 Gallery, Primal Flow Studios, Arts on Broad, Joseph Raymond Fine Art are all participating. As well, Verona’s Wine Cellar is the chosen destination for a glass of wine to enjoy, according to the event post on social media.
■ The Fall Food Festival downtown at Front Street Festival Plaza on Saturday runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. or until sold out.
It’s billed as the “Creepy Fest Edition” with the nearness to Halloween and includes music, shopping and a costume contest. Admission is free and social distancing guidelines will be enforced.
Once again, an eclectic array of eateries are scheduled to provide tasty food fare, including GQ BBQ, JAM Confection Co., Txkvegan, 318FOODCO and S&K Wings. For more information, check out Facebook. com/TexarkanaFoodFest.
