DA seeks public’s aid in Hancock murder case
BOWIE COUNTY, Texas — Bowie County District Attorney Jerry Rochelle is asking for the public’s help in the investigation of the murders of a pregnant woman and her unborn daughter earlier this month.
Taylor Parker, aka, Taylor Morton, is currently being held in the Bowie County jail on charges of capital murder, murder and kidnapping. Bail is set at $5 million.
Parker, 27, is accused of attacking 21-year-old Reagan Simmons Hancock at her home in New Boston on the morning of Oct. 9 and taking her baby from her body. Parker was stopped by a Texas state trooper in DeKalb at approximately 9:37 a.m. and she and Hancock’s baby were transported to a nearby hospital in McCurtain County, Oklahoma.
Hancock’s child, Braxlynn Sage Hancock, was pronounced dead there. Parker, who allegedly faked a pregnancy for months, was taken into custody at the hospital and allegedly confessed, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Rochelle said law enforcement is seeking to acquire home or business surveillance video or other information that would help them establish the movement of a 2009 black, four-door Toyota Corolla with Texas license plate LHL0637 on the morning of Oct. 9 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.
“Any video of any route between New Boston and DeKalb could potentially contain vital information,” Rochelle said. “The main areas of concern are, but not limited to, U.S. Highway 82, FM 1840, FM 561, and FM 992.”
Any individual or business in possession of potentially relevant video is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
“If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, do not hesitate,” to contact law enforcement, Rochelle said.
