UAHT committee finalizes profile for chancellor position

- By Andrew Bell

HOPE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor Search Committee has finalized a “position profile” to be used as the chancellor position’s job description, as part of its current search.

The committee met on Friday, Oct. 16, to begin the process, along with UA System President Donald R. Bobbitt and Vice President of Development and Planning Chris Thomason.

Thomason, the former chancellor, stepped down from the role on July 6. Laura Clark, vice chancellor for academics at UAHT, became interim chancellor.

Thomason is leading the search team for the UA System President’s Office and is coordinating the recommendation of a short list of final candidates cultivated by the committee.

The position profile for the chancellor can be found on the college’s chancellor search webpage at uaht. edu/chancellorsearch. The position will be advertised nationally.

” I have every confidence that the search committee will fulfill its duty in reviewing candidates based upon merit and will find the individual who is an absolute fit for the institution and the communities we serve.” said John Hollis, chancellor search committee chair, in a press release.

The Gazette reached out to UAHT to get more information about the position profile, but the committee was unable to provide it.

“As an ‘advisory committee’ we are under the direction of the UA System office in Little Rock,” UAHT Communications Coordinator Casey Curtis said Thursday. “We are unable to provide any comments other than what is approved by the System office.”

Curtis said the committee’s next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 17.
