Active coronaviru­s cases increase in Miller County

The number of active coronaviru­s cases in Miller County, Arkanas, increased by 14 Thursday to Monday, reaching a total of 65, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

The county’s cumulative total of confirmed coronaviru­s cases reached 1,678, up 34 since Thursday, according to ADH. There have been 1,597 recoveries and 16 deaths in the county.

Elsewhere in Southwest Arkansas from Thursday to Monday, Lafayette County’s confirmed case count rose from 222 to 223, Pike County’s from 363 to 392, Nevada County’s from 421 to 437, Little River County’s from 555 to 561, Howard County’s from 674 to 683, Hempstead County’s from 745 to 771 and Sevier County’s from 1,425 to 1,452, according to ADH.

Because of technology problems affecting both the city of Texarkana, Texas, and Bowie County, Texas, the local emergency Joint Operations Center did not report pandemic statistics for Bowie County or Cass County, Texas, on Monday.

In Northeast Texas, Red River County’s case count went up from 230 to 246 since Thursday, Morris County’s from 290 to 291 and Titus County’s from 1,826 to 1,861, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

In Northwest Louisiana, Caddo Parish’s case count increased by 417 Thursday to Monday, from 14,090 to 14,507, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. Bossier Parish’s case count increased by 301, from 6,596 to 6,897.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 149,175 total confirmed cases and 2,713 deaths, Louisiana reported 252,136 cases and 6,607 deaths, and Texas reported 1,258,214 cases and 22,627 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday reported 14,636,914 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 281,253.
