Lady Lions earn four, 14-3A All-District superlatives

New Boston racked up the most superlatives on the 2020 14-3A, All-District volleyball team with four selections.

Lauren Hurst was named Most Valuable Player, Haley McAlexander was chosen Most Valuable Setter, Maggie Taylor was the Co-Most Valuable Defensive Player and Haylee Houston earned Coach of the Year for the Lady Lions.

Atlanta’s Kaylon Partain was Co-Most Valuable Defensive Player, while teammate Tianna Lawson was awarded Most Valuable Offensive Player. Kym Sheppard, also of Atlanta, was the Most Valuable Blocker.

Kinsley Birdwell of Hooks was named Newcomer of the Year.

Emma Holland and Tamiya Smith, both from New Boston, made the first team. Also on the first team from Atlanta were Callie Dyer, Destinee Wells and Keymya Smith.

Redwater’s first teamers were Cooper Frachiseur and Sydney Hornbuckle. Elo Barrett and Emily Murphy, both from DeKalb, also made the first team. Rounding out the first team from Paul Pewitt were Calli Osmon and Sissy Jones.

Second team selections were: Jaleigh Rowden (New Boston), Lauren Daniel (New Boston), Caitlin Morris (Atlanta), Jennifer Easter (Atlanta), Morgan Creer (Hooks), Karsyn Graf (Redwater), Jaycie Anderson, (Redwater) and Anijah Gray (DeKalb).

McKayla Jackson (Paul Pewitt), Ashtyn Boyd (Paul Pewitt), Claire Bates (Queen City) and Lauren Carrell (Queen City) rounded out the second team selections.
